Exhibition Finale

The 21 Steps exhibition which has delighted art and music lovers with a 5 week plethora of audio and visual delights, closes its doors with a not to be missed finale, held at Domino Gallery, 11 Upper Newington, Liverpool, L1 2SR.

Four great musicians will be playing as part of our closing event and these will be Stan Ambrose on the Celtic Harp, Megan Thomas a singer songwriter, Jody Cooper a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and Joby Hardwick an acoustic, singer song-writer.

As part of our closing event David Thomas Crawley will be showing, for the first time, a film entitled ‘21 Steps - road to success’ on the steps he has taken in order to get Up & Coming Arts set up as a company.

People are being asked as part of the Light Night event to #tweetyourfeet @upandcomingarts whilst they walk around the venues on the night. These images will be added to a film David is working on and in the coming months will be shown via ArtPlayer TV and shown in other galleries internationally.

Laura’s Little Bakery will provide a variety of cupcakes, traditional cakes and puddings using locally-sourced ingredients. Laura has a fabulous coffee shop based in the Home Quarter 42 Hanover St, L1 3DN, UK. Cakes will be sold on Light Night for £1 and all funds raised will be given to her chosen charity Claire House.

The exhibition can still be seen up until Saturday 19th May 2012 at Domino Gallery, Liverpool.

Domino Gallery will open for our ‘closing event’ of 21 Steps exhibition that will happen as part of Light Night.

As part of our closing event David will be showing, for the first time, his film on the steps he has taken in order to get Up & Coming Arts set up as a company. We are planning to have live music during the evening and exploring ideas for other performances / events.

David Thomas Crawley will be showing a projection of his 21 Steps film he has taken. This will be shown alongside artists work within the exhibition. People are asked to film or photograph their feet whilst walking around the Light Night, this can be submitted via or social media websites on YouTube, Vimeo and ArtPlayer TV

This is a competition to see how many steps you are taking around Light Night. Please upload these to our channel or send your submissions to info@upandcoming.org  subject heading ‘Light Night Competition’

What a weekend it was and amazing experience had by all in Liverpool and thanks to Royal de Luxe for the Giant Spectacular weekend!


We announced that we had a competition and have received a few images of David Thomas Crawley filming the Giant Uncle on Saturday 21st April 2012. We are happy to announce that our winners image was taken by local Liverpool photographer Lauren Coombs who caught David in the act of filming. Well done and her special prize will be coming very soon!


We are in the process of planning a closing event as part of Light Night here in Liverpool on Friday 18th May 2012 to take place at Domino Gallery. Further details will be released towards the end of the month. Wonder what we have planned? SSSShhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Giant weekend

Up & Coming Arts is now starting to take shape.

With 21 Steps show up and running here in Liverpool at Domino Gallery and Studio 2 Parr Street until Sat 19th May 2012.



COMPETITION
David Thomas Crawley will be filming during the weekend of the Giant Spectacular and there will be a prize for anyone that photographs him working hard on a new piece to be shown at Domino Gallery as part of Light Night on Friday 18th May 2012. Further details will be released next week.

FACT Connects and linking to Up & Coming Arts

David is busy today at FACT Connects and is working very hard to ensure that Up & Coming Arts gets established here in Liverpool.

We have made plenty of good contacts here today and have just connected to Art Player TV and have opened our new TV channel click here

Yes we have Vimeo and Youtube but as our company now develops we are wanting to work with like minded artists based firstly in Liverpool but even more so further afield.

David Thomas Crawley has been talking to Ophélie Karoni currently based in Berlin, Germany for the past few months. We are pleased to announce that David and Ophélie will be working towards a new project ready titled 'Voodoo Bankers and Cashless Society' to coincide with the forthcoming Liverpool Biennial in September 2012. 


Successful links have been made between Up & Coming Arts and We Are Plural and further announcements will be made in the coming months.


No David has not lost his marbles! Simply seeing a lot of artists work using his IMac in our new offices has created a new piece of work entitled 'Smile' 2012.

Sponsors for our forthcoming 21 Steps show announced

Up & Coming Arts we are pleased to announce that we have been sponsored by Liverpool Football Club, Worthy Print  and Revita Laser for our forthcoming show 21 Steps. Thanks to our sponsors this exhibition has been able to go ahead with no charges given over to artists on this occasion.

Further work has been done in kind by David Thomas Crawley, Matt Jones at Key Music Solutions , Karima Hamache at Your Business Projects and Marc Anthony Vries at MAV Design that make up the team at Up & Coming Arts (soon to be CIC later in 2012).

David is seeking advice from LJMU and other business set ups at this stage to launch a major show this coming September 2012 to coincide with Liverpool Biennial 2012 and Liverpool Independents Biennial 2012. Watch this space.......

We have had plenty of wonderful submissions and some very good names to add to the mix! We are currently finalising our 21 artists that will be showing as part of our third exhibition 21 Steps. Names will be released in the coming days and our website will launch on 12th April 2012.

'21 STEPS' exhibition DEADLINE 01/04/2012

Our theme for this exhibition is for the amount of steps that David has taken since his first year of his BA(Hons) Fine Art course. He has revisit a canvas that he made from shoes and this has been the basis and starting point for this exhibition. ANY media can be used and the title is specific to steps taken in order to set this new arts organisation up. Artists can take this theme and use any media they wish for this application process. If you use multi media ie video artists must supply their own equipment.

ANNOUNCING new staff on board


Here at Up & Coming Arts we have successfully made links to Sheffield (the home of the steel). David has now appointed Matt Jones as Music Director (Key Music Solutions) and Marc Anthony Vries as Creative Director (Marc Anthony Vires). Both Matt and Marc have a wealth of experience within their industries and will be ensuring that links between our two great cities will be possible.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks with the GEC 2012 and both David and Karima have been run off their little feet with networking for both their own businesses David Thomas Crawley and Karima Hamache with Your Business Projects and also for Up & Coming Arts.

Announcing new staff for 2012 and further developments

Here at Up and Coming Arts (soon to be a CIC) later in the year. We are currently seeking advice from LJMU and Pacific Stream Enterprise for this purpose.

David is happy to announce that he has appointed Karima Hamache of Your Business Projects as Directors Assistant/Admin Manager. Karima has plenty of experience in business and has her own company set up at Basecamp3 here in Liverpool, UK.

David was on BBC Radio Merseyside yesterday with Roger Phillips phone in on BBC Radio Merseyside (scroll to 42.56).

David Thomas Crawley is currently based in Domino Gallery in Liverpool and a big thank you to Felicity Wren for allowing him and Up & Coming Arts to be located there.

Thanks to Gary Adlen at Liverpool FC for sponsoring David to attend the GEC in March 2012 here in Liverpool.

Up & Coming Arts seeks a Part Time administrator. (VOLUNTARY) 20 Hours
DEADLINE 31/03/2012

Up & Coming Arts is setting up as a Community Interest Company later this summer and will be based at Domino Gallery, Liverpool. It will build upon the success of exhibitions in 2008 Up & Coming Exhibition (Crawley & Ali) at Contemporary Urban Centre, Liverpool and more recent in 2010 Up & Coming: ‘Giz a Touch’ (Crawley & Trappe) as part of Liverpool Independents Biennial.

It is important that candidate be based in Liverpool as this is an unpaid opportunity without expenses. ALL staff at present are working for free but are working hard to gain funding.

The candidate must demonstrate exceptional organisational and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask, take initiative, and work well under pressure. Strong written and verbal communication skills and an acute attention to detail are necessary. You should have excellent understanding of and experience with Mac / PC operating systems and be proficient in Microsoft Office, and CS3/CS4 packages that include PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator. You will have your own laptop with access to high speed internet connection.

The candidate will have a degree in Fine Art, Graphics or some other Arts related course. You will work closely with the Director, Directors Assistant, staff and artists in the organisation of exhibitions at Domino Gallery and in the coordination of other venues in the city of Liverpool and further a field.
